EngineerOffice System Requirements

For successful installation of EngineerOffice, be sure your computer system meets or exceeds the minimum requirements. System requirements are different for server and client machines, and depend on whether you are using a Windows or Mac operating system.

Server Requirements

Here are the hardware and software requirements of the server machine for hosting EngineerOffice.

Hardware Requirements

  • Any Intel-compatible microprocessor (Intel i3 or later recommended)
  • 4 GB RAM or more (8 GB recommended)
  • At least 20 GB of free hard disk space required

Software Requirements

EngineerOffice is a full 64-bit application and must be hosted from a server running a 64-bit version of Windows.

  • Windows Server 2008 or later, Windows 7 or later Professional editions. It is highly recommended that firms with more than 5 users should use Windows Server 2008 or later instead of Windows 7

Note: Windows Server 2012 Essentials/R2 Essentials editions do not support SQL Server and so EngineerOffice cannot run on those operating systems.

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 or 4.6 (installed automatically by our installer)
  • Internet Information Server (IIS) 7.0 or later (IIS is part of Windows; needs to be installed and configured properly by a Windows administrator)
  • SQL Server 2008 R2 or later 

Note: Standard edition is supported for Enterprise users only. Pro and Basic users must use Express edition.

Note: A server functioning as a domain controller can be used for EngineerOffice, but that is not supported by Microsoft due to its incompatibility with SQL Server. We, therefore, recommend not using it for your software to avoid performance-related issues.

Note: A server hosting Exchange services is not ideal to be used as a server for EngineerOffice as it exceedingly runs-down the performance of the program. We highly recommend not placing both on the same server.

Note: EngineerOffice does not support Parallels virtualization software.

Client Requirements

Hardware Requirements

  • Any Intel-compatible microprocessor (Intel i3 or later recommended)
  • 2 GB RAM or more (4 GB recommended)
  • At least 5 GB of free disk space
  • For Mac users: An Intel processor, 4 GB of free disk space, 2 GB or better RAM

Software Requirements

  • Windows 7 or later, or Mac OS 10.7 or later
  • Microsoft Edge 20.10240 or later, Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 or later, Chrome 7 or later, Firefox 10 or later, Opera 11.0, Safari 7.0 or later

Google Chrome is the recommended browser for EngineerOffice since it is easier to configure in terms of turning off the popup blocker and clearing the browser cache. However, EngineerOffice works with other browsers too as long as the pop-up blocker settings are set correctly.

  • Latest version of Java 8 (EngineerOffice uses Java to open project documents and for data synchronization with Microsoft Outlook and QuickBooks.)

Note: Be sure to install the latest Windows service packs and critical updates. Check the Microsoft website for the latest updates to Windows, .Net Framework 4.5, and Data Access Components. Some versions of Windows include an Automatic Update option.
