Microsoft update does not install properly on some machines.
This is due to programs accessing the .Net Framework 2.0 at the time of update. This causes a corruption in the .Net 2.0 and will cause programs that use this Framework not to open properly.
Microsoft .Net framework 2.0 and its updates must be uninstalled and reinstalled without any services accessing it at the time of installation. Microsoft has also made available a .NET framework cleanup tool that enables you to uninstall the .NET Framework and then reinstall it.
