User receives an error message upon opening BillQuick or when creating a standard database.
BillQuick is unable to communicate with the database due to one or more of the following:

- The computer user account does not have sufficient security rights to the folder in which the database is located (see Solution 1)
- The folder or the database itself is checked as “Read-only” (see Solution 2)
- The database has been automatically blocked by your computer's security settings (see Solution 3).
Solution 1: You will need to log into a computer on your network as an Administrator to edit user security rights.
- Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder in which your database is located, right-click on it and select Properties.
- Go to the Security tab. Select the User Account you were logged in with and check the box “Full Control”.
- Click Apply to make the change and OK to close.
Solution 2: Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder in which your database is located, right-click on it and select Properties.
- Un-check the Read-only checkbox and click Apply.
- If prompted, select “Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files” and click OK.
- Click OK to close.
Solution 3: Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder in which your database in located, right-click on it and select Properties.
- If you have the option available, click “Unblock”.
- Click Apply to make the change and then OK to close.
