Does ArchiOffice/EngineerOffice require any server or will a NAS solution be able to handle whatever ‘server-side’ data ArchiOffice needs to have?
ArchiOffice does require a server, though not necessarily a bona-fide server. We provide the server software to be installed on a system that meets the software/hardware requirements. While your file storage may be on a NAS device, something needs to be serving the ArchiOffice database. You can have the document files that ArchiOffice manages stored on the NAS, but the ArchiOffice server itself is either on a device in your office or elsewhere.
Though ArchiOffice 2010/2011 is accessible via the web, it is not a ‘browser’ web solution run from inside a browser. A client wanting to connect to ArchiOffice 2010 or 2011 via the web simply needs to know the IP address of the ArchiOffice server and the server will download the Java app to the client. ArchiOffice 2012 and above, however, is a web solution that runs inside the browser. Also, most of its features don't require Java.
