Error 5014: Unable to open database

Problem: When trying to get a Windows XP SP3 computer to connect to the BillQuick database on the server, it gives an error:

"Unable to open database X:\....databasename.mdb."

Error returned is 5014.

Error message is "Not a valid BillQuick data file."

Solution: Copy the BillQuick data file to your local hard drive and try to open it there from BillQuick. It could be that your PC does not have proper read/write permissions to the folder on the server's X drive.

Also, we recommend upsizing your Microsoft Access/standard database to SQL Server or SQL Express. You will get significantly better performance that way.
